| "The world may be different because I was important in the life of a child" The story of Villa Infantil begins in Guadalajara, Mexico. Babies are brought to the orphanage, some are orphans, others are abandoned children. A patron built three casitas (small houses) on a piece of rural land at the edge of Lake Chapala. Two nuns and twenty-four children from the ages of two to nine have been relocated to that site. In Guadalajara, three nuns remain with twelve babies. The numbers are growing weekly. Villa Infantil has received some support from Mexicans and expatriates living in nearby communities. The nuns have no means to support themselves and the children. Neither the State nor the Church is obligated to assist them. Some support is available locally through volunteers, providing food, taking the children to doctors, helping with homework. They are in need of the most basic goods including food, diapers, medicines, money for gas and utility bills, clothes and shoes. These children need a good education if they are to have a chance in life. Your support in this important area and for the essentials listed above is desperately needed. All monies that are donated go directly to the children and nuns. No money is taken for administrative purposes. Without continuing support, the existence of Villa Infantil is threatened! Thank you for your time and generosity, Patrons of the Villa Perhaps you have a child, class, church, or other organization that would like to correspond with or help these fantastic kids! |
| Our goal is to provide the best learning environment which will provide these children an opportunity to become model citizens, professionals, and leaders of their community. In rural Mexico, the average child leaves school after the sixth grade, at the age of eleven. They are often removed from school to work as laborers or maids to help support the family. The nuns wish to provide the children with the opportunity to complete their education to their best abilities. The best opportunity for the children at the elementary level is to attend a privately funded school in the nearby town of Jocotepec. The annual costs for sending a child to school are: Registration fee .. $ 45 Books and supplies $ 75 Uniforms . $ 75 Tuition . ... $ 350 Total . .$ 545 Those wishing to support a child in school may do so by sending a check made out to Villa Infantil. You may send a check for the entire year or on a monthly or quarterly basis. The note in the lower left corner of the check should signify Scholarship and the name of the child if you wish to specify one. If you are a US donor, the IRS tax number should be written on the check: A2190333090002 to allow for a tax deduction. Your receipt of the cancelled check is valid evidence for your tax return.
